Archos Releases Tablet With 250GB Hard Drive

IGNY, France — French consumer electronics company Archos has released what it claims is the first Android-based tablet with a 250GB hard drive.

The company said its Archos 70 is the lightest and slimmest tablet with a hard drive that large, according to PCMag.com.

"We strive to be the leader in the Android and Windows-based tablet market by creating award-winning innovative options at affordable prices," said Henri Crohas, chief executive and founder of Archos.

The seven-inch high-resolution touchscreen tablet is $349.99, weighs 14 ounces and has a stainless-steel body.

Archos calls the device a multimedia tablet with certain features like 720p HD video playback, a webcam for video chatting and 3D graphics capability.

The company said the tablet supports audio and video formats beyond the standard ones of Android and allows users to view their tablet using their TV sets.

The tablet also has WiFi connectivity, runs on the Froyo version of Android and has a 1GHz processor.
